The Surf Thing starts Wednesday, June 14th and concludes on Saturday, June 17th rain or shine or fog or drizzle or snow. That’d be wild if it snows. A schedule of all events can be found on thesurfthing.com
We welcome all ages. Although some of the events have a 21+ need based on the rules of the host establishment and state laws. If you have any questions or needs for children please feel free to drop us a line surf@whalebonemag.com
Anyone who has an appreciation for the ocean and community. It helps if that person likes good music, interesting Q&A panels, fun golf outings, daily beach activities, worthwhile surf movies, quality giveback programs, meeting new and seeing old friends, and anyone curious about ways to better help the surf community.
Honored to be able to support the following with proceeds from The Surf Thing donated passes and purchases:
A good respectful attitude and $10 bucks to visit The Lighthouse. The Whalebone crew would also recommend visiting local shops and restaurants while you can in the area. Be sure to check out the weather in advance as June can sometimes bring a fluctuation in temperatures throughout the day.
There are lots of ways to get to Montauk. Here a few we might recommend.
Uber or local taxi company or The Free Ride or walking or bikes. Montauk is fairly spaced out so be prepared to line up rides to-and-from activities as needed.
The Surf Thing and Whalebone crew recommend you follow all local guidelines for parking at the beach and in town. Resident and beach pass parking is required at many beaches. Be sure to check out the signs in advance. Learn more here. Riding a bike, Uber, or drop-off and pick-up from a friend are popular as to avoid tickets and unnecessary headaches for all.
